In 1987 the first mobile phone call was made in Australia, petrol was 37 cents per litre & Kylie Minogue married Jason Donovan on Neighbours.

In 1987 the norm was that when you hit a certain age, or needed help to live independently, you moved out of the comfort of your own home and into residential aged care.

Sounds crazy doesn’t it?

A group of like-minded caring individuals certainly thought so.  They knew from their own experiences with loved ones that if given a choice a person would always prefer living on their own terms in familiar surroundings.  Rather than just lament about the way things were, they decided to do something about it.

In 1987 Better Living Homecare was born.

Better Living Homecare has grown substantially from its humble beginnings 30 years ago. While a culture of innovation has lead to continual improvement our core values of integrity, respect and trust have remained the same.

Why do you do what you do?
Before home care I spent my working life in senior financial positions for large companies. At one point I realised I needed a much more fulfilling career. Now I spend my days surrounded by hard working individuals who are actively changing people’s lives for the better. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What are your passions/hobbies?
First and foremost I am passionate about Better Living. It gives me great satisfaction to be part of an organisation full of people who strive every day to improve the lives of those who need assistance. In my spare time I like to keep fit and spend time with my family.

Any pets?
We are the proud owners of a Max, an unusually quiet dog who can always be found sleeping by the front door.

The Sunday market, the community spirit and the beautiful parklands.

Why do you do what you do?
I went into aged care because I saw firsthand how caregivers could improve a person’s wellbeing. My grandma, who had health issues, was socially isolated prior to receiving support. It made me realise how amazing the people in these roles were and what an incredible difference they could make.

What are your passions/hobbies?
I love walking, reading, movies but most of all, spending time with my family.

Any pets?
I have a fabulous Pug dog called Merlot.

I love the cultural diversity, parklands and the schools.

Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy my work as it gives me the chance to support others and make a difference in their lives. It’s my way to give back to the community.

Music, art and kickboxing.

I have a dog called Pouchie, a Maltese Shih Tzu.

It’s nice going to work every day knowing that I’m helping to improve the lives of others.

I like undertaking DIY projects, reading, and I’m a self-confessed sci-fi geek

I have two adorable whippets called Molly and Bella and two cats called Lilly (the couch potato) and Jett (who thinks he is a dog).

Our Care Managers

Managing your Carers and Services.
Our Care Managers play an important role in the wellbeing of our clients.

They are the people who help you set up a Care Plan, answer any questions you have, change things when need be and do the required paperwork to keep things running smoothly for you.

When you call in, you’ll be speaking directly with your Care Manager, who will know you and your individual situation. You will have met them in person so you’ll know them too.

At Better Living Homecare you will never be speaking with a big call centre or be treated like a number.  Our Care Managers are there to ensure you get the personal care you need.

We think our Carers are pretty special.

Each of them shares a passion to create a positive difference in their client’s lives.  They are friendly, personable, compassionate, respectful and highly motivated to work in this important role.

They are also highly qualified.  Each holds current first-aid and CPR certificates, police checks and working with children checks where necessary.  All of our Carers attend mandatory training on a regular basis to enhance their skills.

While we have many great Carers we choose the one best matched to you. We know from experience that complimentary carer/client personalities lead to the highest level of satisfaction. When we complete a Care Plan with a client one of our top priorities is to match personalities.  It makes sense too.  We are happier when we are around people who understand us and appreciate our company.
