Home Care with the National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Disability Insurance Scheme or NDIS is a long awaited social reform package set to revolutionise the nature, focus and funding of disability support service delivery. Better Living Homecare supports the NDIS and welcomes its rollout.

The NDIS is a new way of providing individualised support for eligible people with a permanent and significant disability, their families, and carers.

If you are aged under 65 years old (or under 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) and satisfy the eligibility criteria, the NDIS will provide you with the reasonable and necessary supports you need to enjoy life.

Through the NDIS, you can:

  • Access mainstream services and supports
  • Access community services and supports
  • Maintain informal support arrangements
  • Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports

These supports will help you to achieve your goals, which might involve:

  • Independence
  • Community involvement
  • Education
  • Employment
  • Health & wellbeing

As an insurance scheme, the NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve your outcomes later in life.

The NDIS gives all Australians peace of mind; that if their child or loved one is born with or acquires a permanent and significant disability, they will get the support they need.
