Home Care Package Client Stories

Better Living Homecare have a number of examples of clients who have entrusted us to manage their Home Care Package and these are their stories (names have been changed to protect their privacy).

Robert and his wife Beth live together. Roberts health had started to deteriorate and Beth found herself unable to leave the house as Robert could not be left alone for even short periods of time. This lead to Beth feeling trapped. Robert now receives a Level 2 Home Care Package which is managed by Better Living Homecare. Robert receives assistance from a carer, who provides personal care and respite. This allows Beth to leave the house to run errands and catch up with friends.
Jenny was so concerned with her mother’s needs, that her she arranged for her mother (Sue) to move in with Jenny and her husband. Sue is on a Level 2 package and was not satisfied with her initial Home Care Package provider as her case manager was constantly changing, her calls were not returned and the amount of funds available for care after deducting their fees did not meet their care requirements. Jenny approached Better Living Homecare on Sue’s behalf and arranged for the Home Care Package to be transferred to Better Living Homecare. Due to the lower fees, Sue now receives all the care she requires and they have built up sufficient funds in reserve to organise their regular Carer to stay overnight on a number of weekends to allow Jenny and her husband to have a short break which they were unable to do for the past 7 years.
John is a 76 year gentleman who lives at home alone. John has a daughter named Sally who lives half an hour away. Sally is a busy mother of three and was finding it difficult to visit John for his medical appointments and to assist him with his personal care. John was concerned that he was a burden to Sally and her own family. John was assessed for a Home Care Package and agreed for Better Living Homecare to manage his package and organise carers to assist him with personal, prepare meals and attend medical appointments. Both John and Sally have been very happy with the Home Care Package. John receives sufficient care for all his needs and is also accumulating additional funds to save for unexpected needs. Sally is happy that she can now choose the times and days to visit John and when they are together she finds that it is more quality time.
Patrick is a 68 year old gentleman who is suffering the side effects of a stroke. Patrick’s wife Karen was finding it more and more difficult to provide Patrick with his personal care in the morning due. Karen works full time and was finding it difficult due to time constraints and Patrick’s size to provide the support he needs in the morning. Patrick has his Level 2 Home Care Package managed by Better Living Homecare and after talking to Patrick and Karen about their goals with the package, their case manager has set up services so a Carer visits Patrick every morning after 9am to shower him and assist him to get dressed for the day. This allows Karen to get up at a regular time and sit and enjoy breakfast with Patrick prior to her heading to work.
